Match Report
After the highs of Blackpool, last weekend saw the resumption of regular competition with with the first Supdance match of the season. As with last year this match was to determine which division each team should compete in and so was very important to set the tone for the coming year. No less than nine Wright Rhythm teams marched out onto the the floor of the Lakeside Country Club ballroom in Frimley Green, all fresh from successes at the Nationwide finals and keen to get back on their dancing legs. You could feel the electricity of expectations in the air.
The Country Club is an excellent venue with a large floor and just about enough spectator areas for everyone. The organisation of the day was also, for the most part very smooth, running more or less to time and without too many big heats or hiccups. It's not an easy job to run a dance competition (I speak from experience) and the Supadance Committee have worked very hard to make these competitions fun, fair and fluid. On behalf of all the competitors, I'd like to extend a big thank you to the committee and say that we look forward to equally good events for the rest of the season.
There were quite a few 'Supadance first timers', particularly in the Juvenile and Junior teams but under the expert captaincy of Liesa and Jemma they showed all the style and class that is expected of every Wright Rhythm dancer - parents, teachers and captains can all be extremely proud. Among the more experienced dancers at all age groups there were the expected good results but also, with many new partnerships and new routines, a sense that there is work to do and the best is yet to come.
With five teams in the first divisions Wright Rhythm have made a solid start to the Supadance season, let's keep up the pressure.
