With the changes of age groups and one of the most challenging qualifying events anyone could remember, no-one was quite sure what to expect going in to this year's IDTA Nationwide Ballroom and Latin Finals. What we did know was that we were well prepared, ready to perform at the highest level for ourselves, each other and the school. Morale was high and everyone was looking forward to a weekend sure to be packed with drama.
It turned out to be a year of a few superstars and genuine strength in depth. With no less than 26 finalists (up from 20 last year) spanning every age group, except rosettes and the over 60s, and three winners. Once again it was a massive team effort but one individual stood out as a particular star, not only did she come second in her own ballroom event (one of the toughest) but she partnered all three winners and competed in a total no less than nine finals, which is just incredible! So, we should all be proud of our achievements but Jemma truly deserves all our respect.
